Easter 2008

We had a wonderful Easter this year!  Luckily the kids understood that the "Easter Bunny" knew how tired we were from driving home all night that she made her visit the following evening.  They were still very excited the following morning to find some Wii accessories along with the usual candy and stickers etc.   Easter Sunday was still beautiful and wonderful.  Since we didn't have anyone take our pictures you can see the one with Ryan and the kids and then me.  The party that evening was at Grandma and Grandpa Burkinshaws home.  We had an amazing dinner followed by a highly anticipated egg hunt.  A little bit of drama involved (there was money in some eggs, not all) but things were resolved into happy endings.  The kids learned how to put their money into one pile and divide it all out evenly.  The children had a great time and so did I,  as you can tell for some reason I am the only adult in the egg hunt pictures.  Oh well I did have the biggest basket...

Newport Beach

Several times a year we take the family to Newport California to stay at the Marriott Newport Villas.  This March we invited one of our favorite families to come with us, the Hornes!  We were so excited that they accepted and we set out for our week away.  It was Spring Break and I don't think we thought it through enough about how bad the crowds would be but it was still very worth it.  We went to the Long Beach Aquarium, Laguna Beach, Build-A-Bear, Carousel, and of course the pools, arcades, playgrounds, basically you name it we did it.  The Hornes had to take off a couple days early so Ryan and I decided to go to Disneyland.  I don't know what it is about that place but I think that I love it more than the average person.  I have to give props to Navie she rode her first roller coaster the Maddehorn followed quickly by Space Mountain.  She never even flinched she loved them both and wanted to do them again.  She was so excited to see her picture after the ride was done and I must admit she didn't look scared in either of them.  I don't know where those brave guts came from?   We had a wonderful time and made many unforgettable memories.  Needless to say I love the Horne kids as if they were my own.  They are all wonderful and beautiful and amazingly obedient.  Thanks to Mindy my girls had very cute hair all week and it was zero maintenance on my behalf.  I am just going to post a lot of pictures that were taken I don't think any explanation is needed.  We just had a wonderful week.  Thanks to everyone who made it possible!  Love to all...

Daddy - Daughter

There has always been a tradition in my family growing up and I am happy to see that it has carried onto my new family today.  My father used to take us for Daddy-Daughter dates and we cherished every moment of it.  Ryan started doing this when Navie was young and the girls look forward to it eagerly.  Ryan decided to go and get Navie out of school early on Friday and take her to a Spring training baseball game.  They both loved it and Navie couldn't stop talking about everything that they did.  They got some really cute pictures!

Worst Day Ever!

Anyone that is familiar with Spongebob Squarepants might have a clue what I am talking about when I say "the worst day ever!.  Of course on the show the song was "The Best day ever!"  I have changed it around to fit the day that I have had today.  To start everything off we are suppose to be leaving town tomorrow.  Who knows if that will happen now.  Jag was playing at the back door and the screen was not securely fastened so what happens...  He falls through the door and crashes onto the cement below.  The result of course has to be directly related to his new front teeth.  He shoved the teeth up into his gums and fractured the bonding that was just put in place.  Now his teeth have a shelf to them that has cracked and left a ledge.  It is hard to explain just that the bonding all cracked and pushed upward so to speak.  I can't believe that at 17 months Jag is giving my brother Jonathan a run for his money (for those that don't know my brother has knocked his two front teeth out 11 times, the first of which I was home babysitting him as a young girl) can I handle all this?  Then to top the night off I picked up dinner for Jacqui, Ryan and I and parked Jacquis car in our driveway.  Ryan was in a hurry to run to his friends house and backed right into it and smashed the front door in.  Joy to the world we now ruined Jacquis car.  At least we know who did it and who has to pay for it.  No hit and runs here, no where to run to!  Wish I could find someplace to run for a little while or at least something stronger than the Prozac I already have!  If anyone is a pharmacist let me know...  Well I have to go fold about 4 loads of laundry and fix a screen door.  Hopefully I'll make it through another night of sick coughing gagging children.  If not I leave Jacqui my car.

One more thing...

Before I forget I thought I would post some pictures of what my children do all day long.  Seriously they would color, draw, scribble all day if I let them, Jag included.  When they are not coloring they are playing on the computer.  They absolutely love their webkinz and disney.com.  Who knew that kids this age could work the computer.  I think that is a little scary?!

Longest Blog Ever!

So it seems as though a lot has happened in the last few days and I just forgot to jot them all down so now I will be playing catch up.  It started with fixing Jags vampire fangs.  Ryan took him into a friend of his and they bonded them while he sat there in Ryan's lap.  I cannot express enough how extremely chill Jag is he literally sat there and let Ryan just hold him while they worked on his teeth.  They turned out really great and look just like nothing ever happened in the first place.  Next I threw Jacqui a bridal shower at my house on Wednesday evening.  We sent out over 80 invitations (I know I don't know that many people either) and they say to plan on half showing and that is exactly what I did.  We lucked out because we did end up having around 40 show and therefore had enough food and yummies.  Thanks to Mindy for helping me and bringing the best part ever.  The CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN!  I received many stares and had many comments thrown my way but if I want to fill a cup and drink it straight full of chocolate I can!  I told them all it was my house and that means I was in charge.  No joke best chocolate ever!  Not lying when I say that I drank the chocolate as well, ask anyone present they will let you know.  She received many "girly" gifts or should I say "Dave" gifts and the attention drawn to her was hilarious.  She hates for people to stare at her or concentrate on her but she was definitely the focus especially opening those gifts.  I thought it was all worth it to see her face and how flustered she was (there is a little devil in me) her spotlight is just beginning...  Then to top the whole week off I have been worried about Jag because he came down with everything that has been going around.  The whole bronchial thing hit him hard.  We have been talking about going somewhere for Spring Break so I was worried not having him checked out before we left.  I took him in thinking that they were going to tell me that he just needs a humidifier running in his room and some sort of decongestant.  I was VERY wrong.  Turns out the poor boy has pneumonia and it was so bad that she didn't let me leave the office until we gave him a treatment right then and there.  Well, during the treatment I look over at my three year old Blakely and notice something nasty coming out of her eye.  I thought there was no way that was what I though it was but after a quick consult with the doctor turns out Blakely had pink eye.   No joke it showed up as we were at the Doctors office.  I guess someone was looking out for me considering that I didn't want to make a return trip the next day.  After all Jag has a follow up in 48 hours and if he shows no improvement there might be some inpatient treatment ahead of us.  So after dropping off all me prescriptions and taking my children to watch their Dad play some softball we came home and tried to get ready for bed.  We had to do dinner time, bath time, breathing treatments, eye drops, antibiotics (Jag), and inhalers all before I could call it quits.  I am  not trying to complain because I am fully aware that there are folks out there that have things ten times worse, I just am not used to all the prescriptions sitting on my counter.  To top it off I still want more children! Am I thinking straight or should I have my medications re-evaluated. Well that is hopefully all I can think of that has happened lately hopefully my next entries will be less eventful!  Love to all...
